The ABC’s of Prom
As I flipped through the VOX newspaper, several stories caught my eye. I enjoy reading things that are fun and enjoying, so when I saw the ABC’s of prom, I just had to tune in. I think the ABC’s of prom was a very good idea. Prom season is when many students become overwhelmed planning for the big day. I liked this article because it gave me useful tips that I can use preparing for prom. [Mo] talked about budgeting, while still looking fly. She also encouraged having fun, while at the same time being mindful of what you’re doing. Overall, the article was great.
—Chelsea Mitchell, 15
I liked the ABC’s of Prom. It was very informative to me, especially being in my sophomore year. If I would have just gone in head on, I probably wouldn’t have known what to do. I would have just gone in with a suit and called it a day. So thank you very much.

Self Esteem: Our Most Valuable Accessory
What I liked about this story is how Kayla calls self-esteem an accessory and how to use it as an everyday necessity. I could relate to this story by building my self-esteem and just trying stuff even though I’m not the best at it.
—Yasmeen Stokes, 15
Father’s Absence to God’s Presence
I liked the story. I liked how real [Deontez] was with his own experiences. I really couldn’t relate to the story because I live with my father, so I’ve never known what it was felt like to be fatherless. I realize everybody doesn’t have a father present in their lives and it can affect you. I never thought about how people without fathers feel, but now I realize that I should consider other people and their experiences.
—Teralyn Griffin, 16
I liked that [Deontez] showed all the feelings you get when you live life fatherless. I related because my father and me had this type of relationship for a while. I now realize that there are people that felt just like I did.
—Tevin Williams, 15
Dr. Seuss’s Greatest Gift
I know how it is to feel that you lack a certain something in life. I felt that same way about my range of knowledge/ experiences. Because of that, I also looked elsewhere to find it. From reading your story, I realized that I wasn’t the only one who felt this way, and that we have to acquire some skills ourselves.
—Paul Harris, 16
