Tamara Patrick

She was born on July 25 1990 in Georgia. She and her family moved to New York when she was two months old and lived there for three years and then moved back to Georgia. She attends Mays High School and she will be a senior this year. Her goals for her senior year are to work hard, get good grades, get into college, and to just relax. She says “I’ve worked hard, I think I deserve a little break.” Tamara’s favorite color is purple. She plans on being a successful music journalist living in New York. She stated that her reason for anting to be a music journalist is that “Music is very influential on a lot of people’s lives, I want to be just as influential and music is also a big part of my life and my generation and I want to be a part of that.”

Tamara is a big family and friends person, and she is very open and friendly. Tamara likes to read and write in her spare time. She also likes to sleep, talk on the phone and surf the web. Tamara is currently in the process of writing two books. Both books are urban fiction centered on young black females. She is on the track team at her school and is also the basketball manager. Tamara says in regard to being the basketball manager that “It teaches me responsibility and how to manage things well and make really good chili dogs”. Tamara hopes to attend Tennessee State University after she graduates from Mays High School.

She likes comedy and drama movies. She also likes to read urban fiction. Her favorite authors are Omar Tyree, Nikki Turner, Noire, and Maya Angelou. Her role models are her mother and her older female cousins. She lives with her mother. She likes listening to rap and R&B. She does not speak any languages but says “I’m really interested in learning Swahili”. She also plans on traveling to different places such as Africa, the islands, and Arabian countries. Tamara is a firm believer in diversity stating that “diversity helps make the world better.” “I also believe change is good and when you change you grow into a more versatile person”.
